Members Section
Active membership at First Presbyterian Church centers around 3 activity centers; vibrant worship, caring community, and mission and ministry to the world around us. All 3 of these activity centers are experiencing renewal and growth as we enter into this new season of ministry at our church.
Vibrant Worship
Our church has always been a place of vibrant worship. A long way back in the history of this congregation has been an investment in a beautiful, as well as functional worship center where the sights and sounds in the sanctuary call us into the worship of God. Complementing it’s physical beauty has been a legacy of great music and singing at our church. Building on the work of many generations, we have recently added back both our choir and our bell choir on the important holidays during the church year. We would welcome anyone who love to sing, and enjoys participating with others in leading our congregation in worship to share their voices with others. On a typical Sunday, we have Cantors that help us in singing the great hymns of the church, as well as draw us toward God through their own solo pieces to honor God.
Caring Community
Next to our sanctuary is a large, and inviting room we call our Center Room, where we have refreshments after our worship service on Sunday morning. It gives us a chance each week to be a caring community with one another, deepening relationships as well as welcoming new people into the church family at First Presbyterian Church. Join us there, and get connected to other people who call FPC their church home. This caring community extends out into the week as people live into what it means to be the Body of Christ to one another, praying for, supporting, encouraging, and serving each other through the ups and downs of life. We would like to do the same for you and your family. Give us a call at 816-232-3358 or fill out your information by clicking the sign-up button below.
Mission and Ministry
The leadership of our church has always kept before us our call to serve the poor and less advantaged in our community. Over the history of this church, many different ministries have been launched in the St. Joseph area that continue to bring grace and tangible support to people who need help with the basics of life; food, clothing, housing, etc. You can see right outside our doors what we call the Little Food Pantry, which is stocked with food that the homeless and others can simply come and take what they need to get through any particular day. We also have volunteers each week cooking meals at the Open Door Food Kitchen a few blocks south of our church. They serve thousands of meals each year to people who depend upon that meal to help them get through another week. We welcome you to join us in these ministries and add your own ideas to what we are already doing in our church together.
